On Thursday, March 28, 2002, the only remaining example of the Boeing model S-307 'Stratoliner' - the world's first pressurized airliner made a forced landing in Elliott Bay, just west of Seattle, Washington. Apparently, there was a loss of power to all four engines during a test flight. The four people aboard escaped injury, and were rescued immediately. The S-307 has spent the last six years being beautifully restored by retired Boeing employees. It made its first post-restoration flight in July 2001. After their first look at the recovered plane, the Boeing people think it will fly again, but only after a lot more work. a hard landing
