  • 1947: Sud-Est SE 3000

    SE 3000

     

    A twin-rotor six-seat model developed from the German Focke-Achgelis Fa 223. Used a welded steel-tube fuselage with cantilever outriggers extending outward and upward from each side of the fuselage to carry the twin-three blades rotors. The power plant was a Bramo Fafnir BMW 323 R2 fourteen-cylinder two-row radial air-cooled engine developing 1000 hp. The crew of two was accommodated in a fully-glazed cockpit with the four passenger cabin behind. A small power-driven crane was fitted for lifting or for rescue work

     

  • 1947: Sud-Ouest SO 1100 Ariel
     

    The first Sud-Ouest helicopter, was an all metal, two-seats with Tip jet powered rotors.

  • June 1948: Sud-Est SE 3101 / 3110

    Experimental models for testing a new twin-rotored anti-torque stabilizer. Were the ancestors of the Alouettes

  • March 23, 1949: Sud-Ouest SO 1110 Ariel II
     

    The Ariel still used the 190 hp piston engine with Turbomeca compressor but with a modified tail

  • 1951: Sud-Ouest SO 1120 Ariel III

     

  • July 31, 1952 : Sud-Est SE 3120 Alouette

    One unit built. Will be used as the Alouette II 's prototype World record in close-circuit for a helicopter remaining 13 hs 56 minutes in flight
     

  • January 2, 1953: Sud-Ouest SO 1220
     

    First flight of the Djinn prototype.

  • December 16, 1953: Sud-Ouest SO 1221 Djinn
     

    Developed from the Ariel models, the Djinn was one of the first success of the French aeronautical industry with 178 units built for 10 countries.
    The Engine was a Palouste gas generator to power the tip jets. The aircraft had no electrics and the engine was started by hand with a large starting handle sticking out of the starboard side.

  • 1954 : The US Army received 3 Djinn called YHO-1

    The Gazelle prototype, a five-seats helo, used an Alouette II tail rotor.

  • April 12,1968 : Sud-Aviation SA 341 Gazelle

    Originally designed to meet a french army requirement for an observation helicopter, was included in the 1967 Franco - British agreement .
    The Gazelle incorporates the Fenestron ( An enclosed tail rotor ) and the rigid main rotor of the German MBB Bo 105

    Was also built in Yugoslavia by SOKO : Yugoslavian Gazelles 

  • September 1968 : Sud-Aviation SA 330B Puma

    Also built by Westland in England (48 units) , ICA in Rumania (+100), Nurtanio (11) in Indonesia and Atlas in South Africa (as Oryx)

  • March 17, 1969 : Sud-Aviation SA 315B Lama 

    January 1, 1970

    The French government officially approved the merger of the three companies Sud-Aviation, Nord-Aviation and Sereb, creating a single company : Societe Nationale Industrielle Aerospatiale.

  • 1971 : SA 316B Alouette III

    Use a Turbomeca Artouste IIIB turbine engine. Also built in Rumania as IAR-316B, India as HAL Chetak and in Switzerland

  • August 6,1971 : First flight of SA 341 Gazelle production units
     
  • June 2, 1972 : SA 360 Dauphin

    The first variant of the Dauphin had 1 Turbomeca Astazou XVI of 890 hp and a Fenestron.
    This model , and the military SA 361 don't have a real success

    An outright world altitude record ( 12.442 m ) for helicopters is set with a Lama

    Use a Turbomeca Astazou turbine engine of 870 hp.

    Initially designed as the Alouette III successor, the 350 result the first helicopter of the company intended for the civil market.
    The Astar was the version sold in North America engined with a Lycoming LST101 turbine

    Agreement to begin studies of a medium lift 8-9 metric ton helicopter ( designated NH-90 ) signed by 10 european countries, including France represented by Aerospatiale.

    With the acquisition of 36 Dauphins (later Panther AS 565K) and 36 Ecureuil (Fennec) AS 550 U2 helicopters the Brazilian Army's helicopter unit is formed.

    The year of 1999 was outstanding in terms of orders for the Eurocopter Group (the Tiger contract), which took 382 orders for new helicopters consisting of: 36 EC 120B Colibris, 95 single engine Ecureuil/Fennecs, 10 twin Ecureuil/Fennecs, 30 EC 135s, 3 BK 117s, 8 EC 145s, 10 Dauphin/Panthers, 8 EC 155s, 22 Super Puma/Cougars and 160 Tigers.
