Approach Minima CATEGORYThe possible CATEGORIES for approaches are A, B, C, D, E and COPTER. Category A Aircraft are usually slower, single prop, 60-90 knot approach speed aircraft. Category B Aircraft are usually moderate, 90-120 knot approach speed aircraft. Category C-E Aircraft are faster jet / multi-turboprop aircraft including heavies, 120>knot approach speeds. Example:The T-34C Single Turboprop US Naval trainer is a category B aircraft and shoots its approaches at 120 knots. Under each category, values are given for the approach. These values represent altitudes and visibilities required for using the approach to land on that particular runway
