The Final Approach Fix is a location
during the approach path, where the Altitude restrictions are released
and further descent down to the Minimum Descent Altitude (MDA - see
Approach Minima Section) is allowed. This is also a reporting point where
TOWER can be informed you are on final and need clearance to land, touch-go,
etc..
On this approach, you can see on the small
scale below the dotted line, the FAF is 6.5 miles from the runway threshold
and has an ALTITUDE RESTRICTION of AT or ABOVE 2100 ft. MSL.
Typically, the FAF is within 4-6 miles of the runway threshold.
